Art Capella Murnau e. V.

A love of a capella music is a passion shared by around 35 singers from Murnau on the Staffelsee Lake and the surrounding Blue Land. This is a very special art form, and one curated since 1996 by the leader and founder of Art Capella, Manfred Böhm, together with his choir. The ensemble boasts a musical spectrum ranging from the renaissance to baroque and late romantic periods, although it also interprets contemporary composers as well. The choir presents two to three concerts every year, and has already released several records. Art Capella boasts a growing audience and has made a name for itself beyond the borders of Bavaria.

Big Band Staffelsee-Gymnasium

It's been making noise for over 25 years already – the Big Band of the Staffelsee Gymnasium, from the local high school. But that's not to say it's become staid or stilted, for it has evolved with the students who comprise it. And so, the complete Big Band ensemble rehearses once a week, and tours throughout the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and beyond. Then there are rumours that the Big Band of the Staffelsee Gymnasium has been something of a wellspring for many an amateur and professional big band. After all, in such a familial atmosphere, the musical inspiration is practically on tap.

Jugend- und Blasorchester e.V.

The Youth Brass Band of Murnau has been showcasing its talents since 1967, at events such as local festivities, annual concerts, church concerts and Kurkonzerte (concerts by the local orchestra) within the local district, as well as in the Trachten- und Schützenumzug, parade of the folkloric costume and marksmen clubs, at Munich's Octoberfest or at Murnau's Schäfflertanz (Coopers' Dance). The number of appearances is increasing steadily, and the enthusiasm of young people for brass band music continues unabated.

The Jugend- und Blasorchester released its first very own self-produced record back in 1975. Its back catalogue has since grown to five LPs and CDs. The orchestra is likewise no stranger to broadcasting, and numerous concert tours throughout Europe attest to the popularity of this music and the proficiency of this ensemble. The Jugend- und Blasorchester is thus a significant facet in the cultural life of Murnau a. Staffelsee.

Information about the orchestra, its events and its rules of admission are available from www.jbo-murnau.de.

And there are new interpretations of the well-established greats and the less well-known alike. The Murnauer Kammerorchester is constantly embarking on diverse musical journeys. Musikzentrum Murnau

The encouragement of making music and the enjoyment of playing music – these are the overriding objectives of the Musikzentrum Murnau (Murnau Centre of Music). In this spirit, it opens its elementary classes to infants and pre-school children. A carousel of instruments allows children from as young as six, to sample and find out which instrument is the best for them. Percussion and band workshops provide rehearsal opportunities for young people, or they can join one of Musikzentrum Murnau's ensembles. The traditional one-to-one method for teaching singing – be it classical or modern – or playing an instrument, is naturally a focal element here. The range of opportunities provided by the music centre is as wide-ranging as the music and musicians themselves.

Information about courses and dates is available from the centre's own website www.musikzentrum-murnau.de.
