- The Buchheim Museum documents the artistic development of the "Brücke" painters up to 1920s and shows the influence of woodcutting and scetching on their style.
- The Franz Marc Museum in Kochel has ist focus on the paintings of Franz Marc, the most important Bavarian artist of classic Modern Art.
- The Schloßmuseum Murnau exhibits individual works of the painters of the "Blue Rider" group, as well as the large collection of works by Gabriele Münter.
- Furthermore, the original sites in and around Murnau, as well as the Münter-Haus, in wich Kandinsky and Münter lived between 1908 and 1914, give an insight into lives and works of the artists.
